Raja Raja Chola is a great king who with his strength and courage ruled and expanded the chola dynasty around the period of 985 CE. He started with Tanjore and Trichy in South India as the areas covered under his kingdom, Later he with his bravery conquered lots and reached till Ilankai which is not called Sri Lanka He is the one who clearly understand the importance of keeping a permanent army, unlike other kings of those times gathered the army whenever required during the warfare. And He headed all his military units like horses, elephant, etc.. In every war Rajendra, Raja Raja Cholans son is the one who lead the Cholan army. Raja Raja Cholan then had the best knowledge about the importance of water management and maitainence like his ancestors, Hence during his period he built a lot of Dams and Lakes. He also framed a water management committee and planned various small and big water bodies to improve the agriculture in the country. During his time he wanted to excel in military, economic and agricultural front, so he imposed quite some amount of taxes on people to manage with all his development plans for the country. He also gets the credit of creating the first bank in the history, which is called Raja Rajeshwara udayar perum pandaram. With which money lending was introduced for the needy people to be interest. During Raja Raja Cholan era, Women were treated with huge respect and he is the one who have placed women for quite some bigger responsible positions in the kingdom He is the one who introduced the system of providing goats for the welfare of people in the country. He also takes the credit of introducing Rain water harvesting for the first time for the welfare of the land. Though there are lot arguments still going around stating that Raja Raja Cholan is Good or Evil, He stands as a great king with all pride as we have not received any evidences so far to pull down his pride.
